Cluster Pays

Cluster Pays is a slot mechanic where a win comes from a group of adjacent matching symbols (vertically/horizontally), not from a payline. A minimum cluster (often 5) is needed to pay.

It almost always pairs with cascading mechanics: winning symbols disappear and new ones drop in, with potentially growing multipliers. It is typical of high-volatility slots. Sweet Bonanza is a well-known example of this model.
